A N Abraham’s community fund re-opens after thousands donated to local causes

Hemsworth Dragons Football Club celebrating A N Abraham Community Assistance Programme award

We’re proud to support young rugby players in Hemsworth, who will soon be training in brand-new kit thanks to our latest grant.

Through the A N Abraham Community Assistance Programme, we’ve awarded £940 to Hemsworth Dragons ARLFC to help them purchase new training kits. This fantastic community rugby league club gives young people the chance to get active, build confidence, and develop vital teamwork skills.

Funeral Director Chris Whitehouse said: “Sport can be so powerful in helping people from all walks of life, and we are delighted to be able to support Hemsworth Dragons.

“The new training kits will give young players pride in their club and a sense of belonging as they develop their skills on and off the pitch.”

This follows the first cycle of funding earlier this year, when A N Abraham Funeral Directors awarded £1,000 to Brocky’s Trust.

The charity helps young people make positive choices by improving their health, social wellbeing and employability through sport and physical activity.

Their grant was used on the Young Coaches Project, supporting four young adults to gain official qualifications so they can lead sessions for local children.

Chris added: “It has been a privilege to learn about the inspiring work being carried out in our community. We are now accepting applications for our third and final round of funding, and encourage any local charities or community groups to apply.”

The A N Abraham Community Assistance Programme’s third cycle is now open for applications, with money available for projects within three miles of its funeral homes in Exchange Street, South Elmsall or Kirkby Road, Hemsworth.

Grants are available to fund local activities which improve the quality of life of residents and the wider community.

Projects must align with one or more of the fund’s four categories – Health, Education, Employment Opportunities, and Poverty and Social Deprivation. The deadline for applications is October 27 at 12 noon.
